Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Lead Operating Engineer in Falls Church, VA to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The role may be the solo engineer on site and may supervise maintenance staff.

Responsibilities include daily operations, preventive maintenance, coordinating with contractors, maintaining inventory, and responding to emergencies while adhering to safety and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; apprentice program/trade school preferred.
• Licensure as required (Journeyman/Master Electrician, etc.). EPA Universal refrigerant certification (Section 608) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Supervise maintenance staff when applicable.
• Perform preventive maintenance: replace filters, lamps, bearings, belts, and inspect equipment.
• Improve preventive maintenance program continuously.
• Develop building-specific maintenance procedures.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and technicians.
• Maintain stock and inventory control.
• Respond to emergencies and customer concerns promptly.
• Ensure compliance with codes and company directives; deliver monthly reports.
• Complete required Cushman & Wakefield safety training and dress code compliance.
