Job summary

Pep Boys in Houston is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to diagnose drivability and electrical systems, mentor junior technicians, and deliver outstanding customer service. You will explain repairs clearly to customers and work to keep the shop organized and efficient.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, 3+ years of automotive experience, and 4+ ASE certifications preferred (A4/A5 plus two from A1, A6, A7, A8, or L1).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3+ years of automotive diagnosing, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 4+ ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes, plus 2 from A1 Engine Repair, A6 Electrical, A7 HVAC, A8 Engine Performance, L1 Advanced Engine Performance).
• Section 609 certification required.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Pre-employment background check required.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications across brakes, hydraulics, exhaust, ignition, electrical, suspension, and HVAC.
• Explain technical diagnoses and repairs to customers or staff when needed.
• Mentor fellow technicians and maintain shop organization and efficiency.
• Stay updated with automotive technology through training.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep management informed of repair issues as they arise.
