Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to diagnose drivability and electrical systems, lead a shop team, and deliver superior customer service. This role involves explaining diagnoses to customers and mentoring colleagues to improve repair quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities include performing repairs per specifications, maintaining an organized shop, and adhering to safety rules while supporting dynamic service operations across shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years automotive diagnostic, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 4+ ASE certifications preferred: A4 Steering & Suspension & A5 Brakes, plus 2 from: A1 Engine Repair, A6 Electrical, A7 HVAC, A8 Engine Performance, L1 Advanced Engine Performance.
• Section 609 certification required.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• High motivation, energy and customer-focused attitude.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Pre-employment background check.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications—brake and hydraulic, exhaust, ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, AC and computer systems.
• Perform duties of lower job descriptions (Technician B, Mechanic, General Service Technician).
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical customers and employees.
• Continuously learn new technical information in formal training.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep store management informed of repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to company policies, safety and environmental rules.
