Blue Origin in Reston, VA is seeking a Senior Aerospace Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of software for aerospace systems, from flight control to mission planning and simulation.

You will mentor engineers, define software requirements, work in an agile team, and collaborate with systems engineers to ensure safe, reliable spaceflight capabilities. A Bachelor's in CS/SE and 8+ years of experience, with proficiency in Python/Java/C++, and Linux, are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, or C++.
• Experience with front-end and/or back-end application development.
• Experience with software development in a Linux environment.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
• Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of software applications for aerospace systems.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, mission designers, and stakeholders to define software requirements and architecture.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Develop user interfaces that are intuitive and meet operators' needs.
• Create and maintain software for data processing, analysis, and visualization.
• Develop and maintain simulation software for testing and verification of aerospace systems.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle in an agile environment.
