Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a software development leader to head a team delivering back-end and front-end systems for the Engines business unit. You will translate customer needs into concrete requirements, define a product vision, and drive an end-to-end SDLC in an agile environment.

Ideal candidates have a BS in a STEM field, 5+ years in software or data product development, and experience in aerospace or hardware verification. U.S. citizen status per security requirements may apply.

Qualifications

• BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, physics, mathematics, or engineering
• 5+ years in software or data product development
• Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or verification/test of hardware
• Proven ability to manage end-to-end software development
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication across all levels

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers to develop requirements, define problem spaces, create user stories, demonstrate functionality, testing and validation
• Ability to transform abstract or ambiguous requests into clearly defined requirements
• In consultation with customer and stakeholders, develop and maintain the product vision and detailed development package, and roadmap
• Drive all aspects of the software development life cycle from design, implementation, testing, to deployment of the back-end and front-end systems
• Create and maintain product artifacts to support development efforts and business requirements
• Coordinate on team priorities and developer requirements to enable incremental delivery of functionality
• Capture user feedback and integrate into product version releases
• Develop software in an agile team framework, including building consensus on designs, conducting demos, and organizing / supporting Sprints
• The ability to quickly absorb information in an unfamiliar domain and translate it into software
• Think outside the box. Challenge why things are done a certain way and figure out ways to improve existing solutions or processes.
