Job summary

Blue Origin in Los Angeles/California is seeking a Senior Aerospace Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of critical software for aerospace systems across flight control, mission planning, and simulation domains.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with systems teams, and ensure software meets mission requirements in an agile environment, using Python, Java, C++, and web tools as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, or C++.
• Experience with front-end and/or back-end application development.
• Experience with software development in a Linux environment.
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of software applications for aerospace systems.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, mission designers, and other stakeholders to define software requirements and architecture.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the team.
• Develop user interfaces that are intuitive, efficient, and meet the needs of our operators.
• Create and maintain software for data processing, analysis, and visualization.
• Develop and maintain simulation software for testing and verification of aerospace systems.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
• Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software on schedule.
