Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead designs for power transmission projects. You will guide project discussions with clients and teams, oversee feasibility studies, and ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, and NEC standards.

The role includes mentoring engineers and traveling to client sites as needed. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with potential remote options for the right candidate, and a focus on delivering reliable, sustainable energy infrastructure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 4+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NEC and related standards.
• High proficiency in PLS-CADD.
• Experience in electrical utility consulting is strongly preferred.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or other structural design software.
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specifications.
• Prepare construction packages with structure details, material lists, staking tables, plans and profiles, and stringing charts.
• Estimate project costs, resources, labor, and materials with realistic deadlines.
• Write, modify, and review specifications per NESC, IEEE, NEC and industry standards.
• Conduct feasibility and routing studies and EMF calculations for planning.
• Oversee project implementation and verification of foundations and equipment installation.
• Lead or assist with proposal preparation and business development.
• Travel to client sites for project definition and execution phases.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and technicians.
