Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago’s Louis L. Biro Law Library seeks an Instructor and Reference Librarian to join its team of librarians, providing research services to students, faculty and patrons.

The role holds an Instructor rank and reports to the Director of Law Library & Instructional Technology, ideal for an early career librarian. The position involves teaching Advanced Legal Research, offering guidance in the Law School's writing program, and supporting remote access to resources.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA accredited program or its foreign equivalent.
• AND a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or its equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in the School of Law curriculum, including Advanced Legal Research and Lawyering Skills program.
• Provide research and reference service to students, faculty, and other patrons, in-person and remotely.
• Conduct research instruction sessions and consultations for Law classes and groups of patrons.
• Create and update research guides and other information for patrons.
• Participate in Law Library planning and collection development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
