Job summary

Boston College Law Library seeks a Legal Information Librarian to join the Teaching & Research team. The role supports research instruction for students, faculty scholarship, and classroom instruction with a collaborative, excellence-driven culture.

The position emphasizes delivering credit-bearing courses, providing reference help, and developing new library services while aligning with the law school’s priorities and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
• M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Knowledge and experience conducting legal research and providing reference support.
• Experience or interest in providing research instruction through a variety of modalities.
• Interest in curriculum development, teaching, and assessment.
• Ability to work as part of a team to solve problems, learn new skills, and support each other.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver legal research instruction to law students through credit-bearing research courses, guest lectures, library-sponsored research workshops and online learning resources.
• Provide research and reference support to the BC Law School community.
• Serve as liaison to assigned faculty members providing support for scholarship and teaching.
• Contribute to the development of new library services and programs.
• Participate in outreach activities promoting engagement within the law school community.
• Identify and evaluate new resources through participation in the collection development process.
• Serve on library, law school, and other professional committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
