Job summary

Boston College Law Library invites applications for a Legal Information Librarian to join the Teaching & Research team. This role supports research instruction and reference services for BC Law School students, faculty, and staff.

The Librarian may teach credit-bearing courses, provide individualized support for faculty scholarship, and participate in developing library services and outreach within the law school community.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Knowledge and experience conducting legal research and providing reference support.
• Experience or interest in providing research instruction through a variety of modalities.
• Interest in curriculum development, teaching, and assessment.
• Ability to work as part of a team to solve problems and support colleagues.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to high level of customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, students, staff, and a diverse community.
• Commitment to an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver legal research instruction to law students through credit-bearing courses, guest lectures, workshops and online resources.
• Provide research and reference support to the Law School community.
• Serve as liaison to assigned faculty members supporting scholarship and teaching.
• Contribute to development of new library services and programs.
• Participate in outreach activities promoting engagement within the law school community.
• Identify and evaluate new resources through collection development involvement.
• Serve on library, law school, and other professional committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
