Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Laboratory Technician Assistant to support daily workflow in the clinical lab, including training LTAs and students and ensuring competency. This role requires collaboration across departments to provide timely phlebotomy services and maintain patient care standards.

The LTA will work full-time, with a 5a-5p weekday schedule and alternate weekends, learning and applying LIS and lab procedures while ensuring safety and compliance across the laboratory operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy and lab experience required.
• Graduation from phlebotomy training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train new LTAs and students, maintain competency checklists.
• Coordinate and monitor LTA activities on shifts.
• Distribute work and liaise between Laboratory and other departments.
• Direct specimens to appropriate departments and troubleshoot LIS devices.
• Handle specimen processing and prepare samples for referral labs.
