Job summary

TriCore Laboratory in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Laboratory Scientist at Heart Hospital of New Mexico. The role performs waived to high complexity tests under CLIA, maintains equipment, and ensures QC before patient testing. Involves inventory, training, and collaboration with clinicians and staff.

The position may require variable shifts, on-call duties, and adherence to strict regulatory standards. A strong foundation in biology/chemistry labs and ACS/AMT-eligible training is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical science from an accredited institution.
• Associate’s degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• Education/experience equivalent to CLIA regulations for higher levels.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing with independent judgment under supervision.
• Note abnormal results and inform supervisor or pathologist.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment and instruments.
• Document QC/QA activities and monitor trends.
• Troubleshoot testing issues and implement solutions.
• Participate in regulatory inspections.
• Manage inventory and order supplies.
• Assist training of new staff or students.
• Serve as liaison with internal/external customers.
• Participate in POCT oversight and training as applicable.
• May collect specimens and prepare for analysis.
