Job summary

TriCore, New Mexico’s largest laboratory, invites applications for Laboratory Scientist I–IV, performing waived to high-complexity tests under CLIA. Roles include equipment maintenance, quality control, training staff, and participating in PA/POCT oversight across sites.

Minimum qualifications span from Bachelor’s in biological/chemical science to associate degrees with required coursework and CLIA qualifications. Shifts include varied schedules with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• CLIA-based qualification tracks LS I–IV with education/experience requirements described.
• No experience required for Laboratory Scientist I; higher levels require increasing experience/education.
• ASCP/AMT or equivalent certifications preferred for LS IV per preferences.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate or high complexity laboratory tests under supervision.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; perform QC/QA logging and data collection.
• Assist with training staff and students; liaise with internal/external customers.
• Participate in POCT oversight, training, troubleshooting, and quality review.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical science

Associate’s degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology

Education and training equivalent to an associate degree with specified science coursework

Qualified as technologist under CLIA regulations (on or before Feb 28, 1992)

Military medical laboratory training plus biology/chemistry degree and experience
