Job summary

TriCore is New Mexico’s largest laboratory, offering comprehensive testing services across waived, moderate, and high-complexity labs. The Laboratory Scientist roles include instrument maintenance, QC/QA data handling, and collaboration with clinicians to support accurate patient results.

The positions require a degree in biology/chemistry or equivalent laboratory science education, with multiple LS levels defined by education and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological, or chemical science from an accredited institution; or related combinations as listed for LS I/II.
• Formal education matching CLIA-qualified technologist pathways may apply.
• No explicit experience required for LS I; multiple pathways exist for higher LS levels.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate, or high complexity laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and calibrate laboratory equipment.
• Run and evaluate quality control testing to ensure instrument readiness.
• Assist with QA data collection and trend analysis.
• Train staff and students; liaise with internal/external customers.
• Participate in POCT oversight activities as applicable.
