Job summary

DIG INN is seeking a Chef-in-Training in New York to join our scratch-based kitchen where passion for real food drives growth. You will learn stations, develop leadership, and contribute to creating scratch-made meals in a fast-paced environment.

This role offers hourly pay of $17-$18 plus $2-$3 per hour in tips, with additional benefits and pathways to advancement within DIG’s mission to rebuild the food system.

Qualifications

• A passion for real, good food and a desire to learn culinary practices.
• Strong work ethic and team orientation.
• Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting up to 25–50 pounds).
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Prep, mix, and cook vegetables, proteins, grains using recipes as a guide.
• Gain exposure to garde manger, grill, roast, market line, and guest concierge.
• Explain menu offerings and ingredients to guests.
• Support team during peak and off-peak service.
• Maintain food safety standards and cleanliness.
• Uphold DIG’s policies and contribute to a collaborative kitchen.
