Job summary

TMSA Public Charter Schools is seeking a K-5 Reading Specialist for the Charlotte campus. This full-time teaching role reports to the Principal and requires a current NC teaching license or active licensure in progress.

The position focuses on implementing the State Standards, differentiating instruction, and contributing to MTSS initiatives. Responsibilities include creating engaging lesson plans, fostering a safe classroom culture, and collaborating with colleagues to improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and NC teaching license or in the process of obtaining one.
• Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required.

Job Title: Teacher

Reports To: Principal

Contract Length: 195 Days

Primary Role: A TMSA teacher has the right mindset and skills to succeed in an environment of high expectations while also being a true team player. The teachers demonstrate the competencies, energy, and positive attitude needed to encourage and teach all students in their academic and social preparedness.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
• Current North Carolina teaching license, or be in the process of obtaining one
• Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required

Skills, Duties, and Responsibilities:

• Knows and understands the NC State Standard Course of Study to develop proficient and effective lesson plans for grade level/subject areas.
• Establishes a safe and orderly environment and a culture to empower students
• Manage various classroom behaviors and try to minimize disruptions to learning
• Participate in the MTSS process and procedures at TMSA to provide equitable and valuable education for all students
• Demonstrate leadership behaviors from the Leader In Me program that TMSA implements schoolwide
• Works collaboratively with school personnel to create a professional learning community
• Develops goals and strategies through the school improvement plan
• Open to constructive feedback from lead teachers, coaches, and administrators
• Ability to differentiate instruction according to students' needs
• Collaborates with colleagues to mentor and support teachers to improve the effectiveness of the department or grade level
• Appreciates differences and values contributions of each student by building positive, appropriate relationships
• Regularly assess students, both formative and summative.
• Demonstrate technology/instructional media competency to enhance learning
• Work with parents and guardians to promote positive behavioral support and a respectful yet nurturing learning environment

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $57,500 to $70,750 Per Year
