Job summary

Alpha reimagines the school day around faster learning and stronger mentorship. This is a full-time, on-site role on a Chicago campus, guiding K-3 students through app-based core learning and literacy sessions.

You will monitor progress, close reading gaps, and maintain daily goals with high accountability. Qualified candidates have at least 3 years with children and strong structured-literacy training or a teaching certificate is not required.

Qualifications

• Three years of direct work with children aged 4-9 or similar settings.
• At least 2 years teaching reading in K-3 in the last 5 years.
• Structured-literacy training (LETRS, IMSE, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Fundations, UFLI, CERI, Neuhaus, SIPPS, Really Great Reading) or a master's in reading or literacy.

Responsibilities

• Coach two to four students in short, structured literacy sessions.
• Lead morning launch, literacy workshops, and check-chart activities.
• Drive students toward weekly app goals using school currency and gamification.
• Stay with students through lunch, recess, and closing and address frustration with a plan.
