The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) seeks an experienced Lieutenant to support facility operations and youth rehabilitation. Under supervision, you will plan and implement procedures, ensure safety, and lead security staff to maintain a secure environment for youth and staff.

Essential duties include supervising shifts, responding to emergencies, and coordinating with youth services while upholding agency policy and state law. Training and overtime may be required.

Formación

• High school diploma with supervisory experience in correctional, security or police work.
• Bachelor's degree in human services or criminal justice may substitute for supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of state law, DJJ facility rules and child abuse statutes.

Responsabilidades

• Engages with youth to ensure safety, security, rehabilitation and well-being.
• Maintains frequent, helpful communication with youth throughout the day.
• Responds physically to emergency situations as required.
• Supervises and mentors security staff on shift to ensure safety and proper operation.
• Maintains inventory of security equipment and ensures compliance with policies.
• Completes required reports and participates in on-call management as needed.
