Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) seeks a Lieutenant to assist in strategic facility operations, supervise security staff, and ensure compliance with agency policies and state law. You will work under limited supervision to maintain safety and rehabilitative opportunities for youth.

Responsibilities include directing daily security activities, coordinating shifts, mentoring staff, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and supervisory experience in correctional, security, or police work.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for supervisory experience.
• Ability to supervise and mentor security staff.

Responsibilities

• Engages with youth to ensure safety, security, rehabilitation and well-being.
• Directs shift operations and coordinates staff coverage.
• Responds to emergencies and conducts routine security inspections.
• Monitors compliance with safety, security and maintenance regulations.
• Mentors and evaluates security staff performance.
