Job summary

Linde Inc. in Chesterton, IN is recruiting an entry-level Mechanical Engineer for the Leadership Technical Orientation Program (LTOP).

The program begins on or around July 1, 2027, offering broad exposure to plant operations across multiple product lines including air separation, hydrogen, and other gases. You will participate in a fifty-two week structured curriculum, perform hands-on startups, maintenance, and project planning, operate process equipment, monitor efficiency, and collaborate

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with GPA 3.0+ preferred.
• Zero to three years of internship or co-op experience.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete tasks with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a fifty-two week curriculum exposing you to plant operations across multiple product lines.
• Engage in hands-on operational activities such as startups, shutdowns, maintenance, and project planning.
• Operate process equipment via control systems and in the field (motors, compressors, pumps, instrumentation, utilities).
• Monitor efficiency and energy consumption; optimize operating modes to improve plant performance.
• Support quality assurance, regulatory compliance, distribution and operations within budgets and schedules.
• Collaborate with process engineering, project engineering, controls, maintenance, reliability, safety, and operations teams; develop mentored leadership.
