Job summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking an entry-level Mechanical/Electrical-focused engineer for their Advanced Facilities Group in Austin, TX. The role involves performing entry-level mechanical, electrical, and field activities, participating in safety and quality plans, and assisting in developing M/E estimates for projects.

The successful candidate will have a 0–2 year construction background, a relevant engineering degree, and strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering or related field.
• Equivalent relevant experience will be considered in lieu of the above.
• 0–2 years construction experience and/or summer internship/co-op experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learns and participates in the company's safety and quality plans and culture.
• Completes entry level mechanical, electrical and field construction activities.
• Learns how to develop budgetary M/E estimates based on program info using automated estimating system.
• Assists in reviewing mechanical and electrical options as part of preconstruction.
• Learns to develop mechanical and electrical scopes of work for bid coordination.
• Assists in bid analysis and subcontractor selection input.
• Assists in sequencing requirements of various systems to meet schedule.
• Gains knowledge of design documents to identify potential quality problems.
• Performs job inspections to ensure specifications and quality.
• Assists with shop drawing/submittal process to comply with contract documents.
• Assists with commissioning including pre-functional checklists and testing procedures.
