Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer for our Columbia, MD office, starting Summer 2027. You will join the Property & Buildings team and contribute to the design and implementation of utility-scale projects.

Under supervision, you’ll assist with substation design, electrical calculations, diagrams, and documentation, while learning codes and safety practices. This role offers growth through hands-on exposure to multi-discipline projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with electrical construction laws, codes, regulations.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision, or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data relating to substation components and equipment specifications.
• Assist with designing single line, three line diagrams, grounding design and bus arrangements.
• Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, voltage drop, and power distribution.
• Prepare documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notes.
• Support safety compliance and project documentation.
