Job summary

FirstEnergy is hiring Journeyman Linemen to build and maintain electric power systems, restore service, and work across our distribution territory. Duties include pole work, wiring, testing, and substation tasks. This outdoor role requires climbing, lifting, and operating equipment in all weather.

Candidates must have completed a sanctioned apprenticeship and hold a valid Class A license with DMV medical clearance. Travel across service areas and extended hours are expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with approved documentation (e.g. IBEW Journeyman Lineman ticket).
• Valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• Pass DMV medical exam by first day of employment.
• Live within 40 minutes of assigned Service Center.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or GED and 5 years electric line utility experience.
• Ability to wear PPE and lift up to 100 pounds.
• Capable of working in all weather and road conditions; extended hours/nights/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Travel to various job locations within the assigned region.
• Review work requirements and provide input for daily tasks.
• Load/unload tools and materials; operate equipment and vehicles.
• Climb poles and work on elevated structures; frame and set poles.
