Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking qualified Journey Line Workers to support its electric distribution network in the service territory, primarily in New Jersey. Workers inspect and build power systems, restore service, and travel to multiple job sites while adhering to safety standards.

The role requires completion of a sanctioned line worker apprenticeship, a valid Class A permit, and passing pre-employment screenings. This is a physically demanding, outdoor position with potential overtime and travel.

Qualifications

• Completion of a line worker apprenticeship with approved documentation.
• Possession of a valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• Ability to pass pre-employment requirements (drug screen, background check, POPA).

Responsibilities

• Travel to various job locations within the assigned region.
• Load and unload tools and materials; use hand and power tools at sites.
• Climb poles, operate aerial lifts, bucket trucks, and hydraulic equipment when certified.
• Set and energize transformers, string lines, install streetlights, and perform substation work.
• Troubleshoot outages, work in live circuits, trenches, and confined spaces; inspect vehicles daily.
