Job summary

FirstEnergy is hiring Journeyworker Lineworkers to build and maintain electric power systems in our distribution network. The role requires a federal/state apprenticeship, a valid Class A license, and ability to work outdoors in all weather.

You will be testing, framing, setting poles, climbing, installing cross-arms and transformers, and performing voltage readings in various locations across Ohio. The position is full-time and on-site in Sandusky, with travel within the service territory.

Qualifications

• Federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship completed and documented.
• Must possess a valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• Must pass DMV medical exam by first day of employment.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Must wear company provided PPE.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Able to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Pre-employment testing required (drug screen, background check, POPA).
• Experience with rubber gloving and hot stick procedures.
• Experience in transmission and distribution work; ability to work in varied voltages.

Responsibilities

• Travel to job locations within the assigned region.
• Review job requirements and input daily work plans.
• Load/unload tools and materials at crew HQ and job sites.
• Lift and move equipment to and from job sites.
• Climb poles; install and frame poles; test and terminate cables.
• Install/energize transformers and take voltage readings.
• Troubleshoot and assess repairs for primary/secondary lines.
• Work in heights, trenches, confined spaces and around live circuits.
• Drive, operate equipment and perform daily vehicle inspections.
