Job summary

FirstEnergy is hiring qualified Journey Line Workers to support electric power systems in our distribution network, primarily in New Jersey. The roles involve building and maintaining lines, restoring service, and working outdoors in all weather conditions with potential travel and relocation as needed.

Responsibilities include assisting apprentices, inspecting vehicles, operating equipment after certification, climbing poles, and performing substation work.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of a line worker apprenticeship or Journeyman Lineman ticket.
• Must have a valid Class A driving permit by start date.
• Pass a DMV medical exam and pre-employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Travel to various job locations within the assigned region.
• Load and unload tools, materials, and supplies at crew HQ and job sites.
• Lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
• Operate hydraulic equipment once certified.
• Climb poles using boots or aerial lift.
• Test, frame, set, and anchor poles; string power lines.
• Perform substation switching; install and replace switches, meters, and streetlights.
• Travel by vehicle to access job sites; drive to meetings and training.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections.
• Provide on-the-job training to apprentice linemen.
