Job summary

FirstEnergy is hiring qualified Journey Line Workers to support its distribution network across multiple sites. The role requires completing a federal/state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship and/or IBEW sponsored program, a valid Class A license, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Overtime, comprehensive benefits, and ongoing training are part of the package. Openings are primarily in New Jersey with potential for other locations.

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with approved supporting documentation.
• Must possess a valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• Must pass DMV medical exam by first day of employment.
• High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to wear company provided PPE.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
• Willingness to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Travel to job locations within the assigned region.
• Review job work requirements and provide input for the day.
• Load/unload tools, materials and supplies into/out of vehicles.
• Climb poles and work at heights; test and install lines and equipment.
• Perform substation switching and install streetlights; take voltage readings.
