Job summary

FirstEnergy is hiring two Journeyman Linemen for our Distribution team in West Virginia. You will build and maintain electric power systems, restore service, test and frame poles, climb, and work in confined spaces. Apprenticeship/IBEW credentials and a Class A license are required. Travel across territory and extended hours are part of the role.

Starting wage is set per hour with a top rate of $51.35, with wage determination influenced by skills, education, licenses, and geography.

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with documentation.
• Valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• Pass DMV medical exam by first day of employment.
• Live within 40 minutes of assigned service center.
• Must be at least 18 years old and have 5 years electric line utility experience.
• Ability to wear PPE and to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather and travel as needed.
• Must pass drug screen, background check, and POPA.

Responsibilities

• Travel to various job locations within assigned region.
• Review job work requirements and provide input for daily work.
• Load/unload tools, materials into/out of vehicles at crew sites.
• Lift and carry insulators, cross-arms, equipment and materials.
• Climb poles and test, frame, set and anchor poles.
• Perform substation switching and install switches and meters.
• Hang and energize transformers and take voltage readings.
• Troubleshoot outages and work on overhead/underground lines.
