Job summary

FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., seeks qualified Journey Line Workers to maintain and restore electric power systems across its service territory. Openings are primarily in New Jersey with potential for other locations.

Candidates will be involved in field work, testing, climbing poles, and line installation, under an IBEW program and DOT guidelines. The starting wage is $51.92/hour with a top rate of $57.96/hour, reflecting locality and bargaining

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with approved supporting documentation
• Must possess a valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment
• Must have passed a DMV medical exam by first day of employment
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older

Responsibilities

• Travel to various job locations within assigned region.
• Review job work requirements and provide input for daily tasks.
• Load and unload tools, materials, and supplies.
• Lift and move insulators, cross-arms, and equipment to and from sites.
• Climb poles and work on elevated structures, sometimes over 35 ft.
• Test, frame, install, and energize lines and components.
• Perform substation work and install meters and streetlights.
• Take voltage readings and troubleshoot primary/secondary circuits.
• Operate lifts, hydraulic tools, and equipment with proper certification.
• Maintain safety, PPE use, and comply with OSHA requirements.

Education

Line worker apprenticeship (or equivalent)

Valid Class A driver’s license

DMV medical exam passed

High School diploma or GED
