Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage, based in California, seeks an IT Operations Manager to lead day-to-day IT infrastructure, security, and compliance. You will ensure reliable systems, oversee ITGC controls, and manage annual SOX activities with internal teams and external audit firms.

The role focuses on security, business continuity, and performance across networks, servers, and cloud platforms in a fast-growing company. On-site at Ladera Ranch, CA HQ.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IT operations, systems administration, or infrastructure management.
• Knowledge of networking, server administration, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and security best practices.
• Familiarity with SSAE 18 (SOC 1/SOC 2) report evaluations and SoD concepts.
• Experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance platforms.
• Strong communication of technical risks to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily IT operations of infrastructure, networks, servers, and end-user systems.
• Owns design and monitoring of IT General Controls (ITGC) and automated controls.
• Develops and enforces IT policies, security, access, and data protection.
• Monitors system performance, troubleshoots issues, and performs root-cause analysis.
• Analyzes network environment to improve cybersecurity and compliance.
• Ensures business continuity and disaster recovery plans are current.
• Maintains PCI and other regulatory security standards.
• Tracks IT operational metrics such as uptime and ticket resolution times.
• Leads end-to-end annual IT SOX compliance efforts.
• Coordinates with internal teams and external auditors for evidence.
• Identifies control deficiencies and guides remediation efforts.
• Performs system administration tasks including user provisioning.
