Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in IT support or systems administration, ideally at a startup or SMB.
• Experience as a sole or lead IT person, or building IT processes from the ground up.
• Hands-on experience with an MDM platform (Iru/Kandji, Jamf, Intune, or similar)
• Strong Google Workspace administration skills
• Experience with SSO, MFA, and identity management tools
• Comfort supporting both macOS and Windows
• Experience writing and implementing IT policies (device, access, acceptable use)
• A documentation-first habit: you write things down so others can follow them
• Scripting or automation experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python, or low-code tools like n8n or Zapier)
• Clear, friendly communication with non-technical coworkers

Responsibilities

• IT & Technical Support: Provide day-to-day IT support across the organization, troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• IT strategy and roadmap: Assess current IT and security posture, maintain a lightweight 6–12 month IT roadmap, and own tooling + IT budget.
• Device management (MDM): Configure MDM (Iru/Kandji), enrollment, patching, and compliance policies.
• Identity and access management: Administer SSO and MFA; manage 1Password; run access reviews.
• Automation and policy: Automate repetitive IT tasks; draft/maintain IT policies.
• Security awareness: Run phishing and security awareness training (KnowBe4).
• Incident response: Act as first responder for compromised endpoints/users.
• Documentation and standard processes: Build runbooks and knowledge base.
• Onboarding and offboarding: Manage full lifecycle for IT; provisioning devices and access.
• Remote logistics: Coordinate shipping, setup, repairs, and returns for distributed team.
• Asset and license management: Maintain hardware inventory; track SaaS licenses; report savings.
• Data protection: Ensure device encryption; manage Google Workspace data retention; recovery procedures.
• Vendor management: Manage IT vendors and evaluate new tools with approvals.
• Engineering enablement: Support engineers with laptop standards, tool access, and secure setup for US/international teams.
• Cross-functional partnership: Work with HR/Finance/Operations; keep IT controls documented for SOC 2 readiness.
