Job summary

Efficient Computer is seeking an IT Manager to own information technology end to end across a fast-growing, multi-site startup. You will be the sole IT team member, building and running systems, policies, and controls that enable secure operations in a defense ecosystem.

You’ll manage IT infrastructure across four sites, lead onboarding/offboarding, and govern AI tool usage and spend while driving risk-aware decisions for leadership.

Qualifications

• 6+ years IT experience including sole or founding IT owner at a startup.
• Hands-on depth with MDM across macOS and Windows fleets.
• Strong experience administering SSO and identity providers with Rippling/Google Workspace.
• Experience with automated user lifecycle management including SCIM provisioning.
• Experience deploying and managing RADIUS servers for network authentication.
• Familiar with CMMC/NIST SP 800-171 or similar compliance frameworks.
• Solid security operations: endpoint protection, email security, incident response.
• Knowledge of office networking across multiple sites.
• Clear written communication; able to explain security tradeoffs to non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel ~25% between offices.
• U.S. person status required.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day IT operations across all offices: hardware, software, accounts, access.
• Run onboarding/offboarding end-to-end: provisioning, deprovisioning, access reviews, device lifecycle.
• Manage laptop fleets and MDM including baselines, patching, security.
• Administer identity and access: SSO via Rippling and Google Workspace.
• Own office IT infrastructure across four sites: networking, Wi‑Fi, AV, printers, access systems.
• Manage IT vendors, licensing, renewals, and budget.
• Shape AI tool governance and spend; balance value and costs.
• Develop and enforce security policies, training, and governance roadmap.
