Job summary

University of California - San Diego Medical Centers is seeking an experienced scheduler to provide comprehensive support for Interventional Radiology clinic visits and procedures across UC San Diego Hillcrest, Jacobs Medical Center, and other locations. You will schedule, register, and coordinate communications among patients, physicians, and staff to ensure timely access to procedures.

The role requires 3+ years of scheduling experience in interventional radiology or multi-specialty settings,

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of related scheduling experience for Interventional Radiology or multi-specialty service.
• Knowledge of third-party payors including federal, state and private health plans.
• Proven ability to handle multi-line calls, schedule appointments, and perform online registration.
• Experience in scheduling IR procedures and clinic consultations.
• Must understand Medical Terminology with emphasis in Interventional Radiology.
• Experience working in a large healthcare setting and must have excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive scheduling, registration, and administrative support for IR clinic visits and procedures.
• Schedule clinic appointments and interventional procedures for multiple physicians and advanced practice providers.
• Coordinate patient scheduling activities across multiple service lines and ensure adherence to scheduling protocols.
• Manage scheduling templates and use Epic Optime and Radiant to schedule, update, and document appointments and procedures.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, staff, and external contacts.
• Operate a multiline telephone system, screen calls, and communicate scheduling and medical information appropriately.
• Complete registration for new and established patients, including verifying demographic, financial, and insurance information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain required referrals and authorizations, and advise on deposits per policy.
• Serve as liaison between patients, clinical teams, financial clearance, and other departments to support timely access and scheduling.
• Duties may include obtaining outside medical records, scanning records, data entry, template management, and other related functions.
