Job summary

Stripe Identity team is building the mobile SDKs for iOS, Android, and React Native to enable secure, high-quality identity-verification experiences embedded in apps. As an iOS engineer, you will craft polished flows for document capture, selfies, accessibility, and device capabilities, balancing UX with security and performance.

You will collaborate with product, design, ML, backend, and field teams, operate SDKs in production, and contribute to durable, scalable mobile engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience in mobile apps or SDKs.
• Experience developing for iOS using Swift or Objective-C.
• Strong software-design fundamentals and experience creating maintainable APIs, components, or frameworks.
• Experience delivering mobile functionality beyond an isolated UI layer, e.g. API integration and device capabilities.
• Experience testing, debugging, monitoring, and improving mobile software in production.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering, product, design, and other partners.
• A demonstrated commitment to building high-quality user and developer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Stripe Identity’s mobile SDKs and verification experiences across iOS, Android, and React Native.
• Create intuitive, polished experiences for identity-document and selfie capture, with accessibility and device considerations.
• Build reusable SDK APIs and components to simplify integration for developers.
• Work across mobile clients, supporting APIs, and services to deliver features end to end.
• Improve SDK performance, reliability, observability, testing, release processes, and backward compatibility.
• Make architectural decisions balancing user experience, developer experience, security, privacy, and maintainability.
• Partner with product managers, designers, ML engineers, backend engineers, user researchers, and other mobile teams.
• Work with Stripe users and field teams to understand integration challenges and turn feedback into improvements.
• Help establish and evolve mobile-engineering practices across Identity and Stripe.
• Operate and maintain systems and SDKs the team owns, diagnosing production issues and improving them.
