Job summary

Stripe Identity is seeking an Android engineer to design, build, and maintain mobile SDKs across iOS, Android, and React Native. You will implement identity-document and selfie capture flows with accessibility and device capabilities in mind.

Collaborate with product, design, ML, backend, and other mobile teams to ship end-to-end features, improve SDK performance, and ensure reliability and security for a global user base.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software-development experience building mobile apps or SDKs.
• Experience developing for Android using Kotlin or Java.
• Strong software-design fundamentals and maintainable APIs.
• Experience delivering mobile functionality beyond an isolated UI layer with APIs/services integration.
• Experience testing, debugging, monitoring, and improving mobile software in production.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering, product, design, and other partners.
• A demonstrated commitment to building high-quality user and developer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Stripe Identity’s mobile SDKs across iOS, Android, and React Native.
• Create intuitive flows for identity document capture and selfie capture with accessibility in mind.
• Build reliable APIs and reusable components for easy integration.
• Work across mobile clients, supporting APIs and services to deliver end-to-end features.
• Improve SDK performance, reliability, observability, and release processes.
• Make architectural decisions balancing UX, security, and long-term maintainability.
• Partner with product managers, designers, ML engineers, backend engineers, and other mobile teams.
• Operate and maintain systems and SDKs, diagnosing production issues.
