Job summary

PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) in Long Beach, CA is hiring a part-time Safety Support Associate for the Interim Housing site. The role supports safety operations, monitors facilities, engages participants, and assists with crisis response under low-barrier guidelines.

You will work weekends and varying shifts, perform rounds, coordinate with case management and security partners, and help with reporting, training, and program support while advancing PATH's mission to end homelessness.

Qualifications

• One (1) year experience working with vulnerable populations and/or security and/or de-escalation/nonviolent crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ensuring the overall safety of the interim housing site using observation, de-escalation strategies, and ongoing participant engagement.
• Coordinate with the on-site case management team to provide support to the interim housing site.
• Coordinate with contracted security agencies (if applicable) to ensure the safety of the interim housing site.
• Conduct regular rounds of the interim housing site and facility grounds and communicate and observe discrepancies or concerns.
• In collaboration with supervisors and the case management team, respond to interim housing security and/or crisis situations as they arise by utilizing non-violent crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation strategies, including the team approach.
• Assist with completing reports as necessary or requested.
• Attend meetings and provide input and feedback related to safety and support operations
• Attend and actively engage in all required training sessions as assigned by the company and apply learned skills and knowledge to daily tasks and responsibilities.
• Attend and actively engage in all required staff meetings and events on and off-site (when applicable).
• Must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through inclusive service delivery, continued learning and development, modeling inclusive behaviors, contributing to an inclusive work environment, proactively mitigating bias in internal and external systems as well as interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform all other duties as assigned or required.
