Job summary

El Paso Behavioral Health System, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking a Registered Nurse for intake assessment and crisis intervention in the Psychiatric Emergency Department. You will guide patients through services, provide referrals for non-admission cases, and support call-center operations.

The role requires a Master’s degree or RN, Texas licensure, and experience in acute psychiatric settings, with training in DSM-V and CPR. Some overtime and flexible hours may apply.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree in a human relations field or RN.
• Experience: 2+ years in intake assessment in an acute psychiatric setting or hospital.
• Licensure: Licensed to practice in Texas as a mental health professional (LPC, LPC-Intern, LMSW, or LCSW) or RN.
• Additional Requirements: Knowledge of DSM-V, Mental Status Exam, Handle With Care training within 90 days, CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform intake assessments and crisis intervention.
• Provide information about hospital services to patients.
• Refer patients not meeting admission criteria to community resources for continuity of care.
• Support call center functions and other duties for the Psych E.D.
