Job summary

San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital seeks a dedicated Psychiatric Registered Nurse to assess walk-in and phone referrals and provide high-quality psychiatric nursing care to hospitalized patients. You will collaborate with psychiatrists and other staff to plan, implement, and evaluate care, while educating patients and families and ensuring safety and confidentiality.

The role emphasizes adherence to hospital policies, accurate documentation, and planning care using the least restrictive

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years old or older.
• Education - RN, ADN or BSN from an accredited college or university.
• Experience – Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting, phone triage, tele-health or case management.
• Required Licenses - Valid Texas RN license in good standing required. CPR, BLS, ACLS, CPI certifications a plus.
• Additional Requirements: Medication administration exam, CPR certification, and completion of Management of Assaultive Behavior training prior to patient care.

Responsibilities

• In house assessments are completed with treatment referral recommendations made and documented; use admission criteria and determine level of care.
• Assists clinicians, administration and physician in the assessment of pending admits.
• Plans, coordinates, and evaluates patient admissions and related facility assessments.
• Ensures admission paperwork is completed in accordance with hospital policy.
• Provides direct nursing care, supervising medication schedules and evaluating patient progress.
