Job summary

San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse specialized in psychiatric care to assess walk-in and referred patients, coordinate admissions, and deliver high-quality nursing care for inpatients with psychiatric or emotional disorders.

The role includes planning individualized care, supervising staff, and teaching patients and families while maintaining strict documentation and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Texas RN license in good standing.
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience, behavioral healthcare preferred.
• CPR; BLS; ACLS; CPI certifications a plus.
• Must pass a medication administration exam.
• Excellent communication and crisis intervention skills.

Responsibilities

• In house assessments with referral recommendations and documentation; determine level of care.
• Assist clinicians, administration and physicians in admission assessments.
• Plan, coordinate, and evaluate facility assessments and client admissions.
• Ensure admission paperwork complies with hospital policy.
• Provide nursing care and supervise nursing staff; adjust care plans as needed.
• Develop individualized care plans considering disease severity and patient needs.
• Deliver direct patient care, manage medications, monitor progress and access to care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care.
• Provide social support and encourage participation in groups and therapies.
• Conduct intake assessments and document case history.
• Make nursing diagnoses and recommend treatments.
• Consult with psychiatrists and other staff for treatment planning.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
