YMCA of Greater Seattle is hiring a BASE Instructor at Hazel Valley Elementary to guide elementary students in after-school enrichment. This onsite, part-time role focuses on safe, engaging activities that build teamwork, social-emotional skills, and a love of learning.

You will supervise groups, follow YMCA policies, and partner with families while supporting a warm, inclusive environment. Hours vary by location and school day; start date 8/24.

Qualifikationen

• 16 years of age or older, 18+ preferred.
• 1-2 years’ experience with children; camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
• Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
• Experience planning and implementing group activities.
• Pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination; Concentra options at no cost to you.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or be currently enrolled in high school or an equivalent education program.
• Completion of minimum STARS required training, CPR/First Aid Training
• Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT.

Aufgaben

• Implements culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum in accordance with the Youth Development goals of the YMCA.
• Supervises a group of children to ensure their health and safety and to provide for a positive experience for each child.
• May provide guidance to staff/volunteers overseeing the activities of groups of children.
• Professionally communicates day‑to‑day, confidential and evaluative information with parents/guardians.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
• Assists in maintaining developmentally appropriate site including appearance, décor and cleanliness of site.
• May prepare and serve snacks. Cleans snack area.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
