Job summary

The Seattle YMCA is seeking a part-time BASE Instructor to guide elementary-age participants in sports, arts, STEM, and other hands-on activities at Arbor Heights Elementary. You’ll foster teamwork, social-emotional learning, and skill development in a safe, supportive after-school enrichment setting.

Role starts 8/24. Onsite at the school with hours varying by location; paid time off accrues and staff enjoy YMCA membership and program discounts. Prior youth work and TB/MMR requirements apply.

Qualifications

• 16 years of age or older; 18+ preferred.
• 1–2 years’ experience with children in camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
• Pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination required.

Responsibilities

• Implements developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum.
• Supervises a group of children to ensure health and safety.
• Guides staff/volunteers overseeing groups of children.
• Communicates with parents/guardians about daily events and progress.
• Follows YMCA policies, including safety and abuse prevention.
• Maintains site appearance and cleanliness.
• Attends staff trainings and meetings.
