Job summary

Seattle YMCA is seeking part-time on-site BASE lead instructors to guide elementary students in sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning. You’ll support a program supervisor, foster teamwork and social-emotional learning, and promote skill-building, creativity, physical activity, and fun.

Roles begin 8/17 and involve school-day and after-school shifts. Positions are at multiple elementary locations in the area with a schedule that includes mornings before school and afternoons after dismissal,

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience with children; camps, child care, tutoring, or nannying.
• Ability to model Y values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
• Experience planning and implementing group activities.
• Completion of minimum training requirements (STARS, background checks, TB tests) and CPR/First aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities.
• Supervise a group of children to ensure health and safety.
• May guide staff/volunteers overseeing activities.
• Communicate day-to-day information with parents/guardians.
• Follow YMCA policies, including medical, disciplinary, and safety procedures.
• Maintain site appearance, decor, and cleanliness.
• Assist with snack prep/serving and check-in/out for parents.
• Provide onsite support for Play Everyday Program.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.
