Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking part-time BASE instructors to guide elementary students through sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning at various elementary sites. This onsite role emphasizes safe, caring environments outside the classroom.

You will help teach teamwork and social-emotional skills while promoting skill-building, creativity, physical activity, and fun. BASE hours vary by location, with a start date of 8/24 and after-school programming available.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience with children in camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
• Completion of minimum STARS required training.
• CPR/First Aid Training/ certification.
• Background check via MERIT or equivalent.
• Ability to model YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility, honesty.

Responsibilities

• Implements developmentally appropriate activities aligned with YMCA Youth Development goals.
• Supervises children to ensure health and safety and a positive experience.
• May guide staff/volunteers overseeing groups of children.
• Communicates with parents/guardians about day-to-day activities and issues.
• Follows YMCA policies, including safety, abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
• Maintains clean and inviting site appearance and logistics.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

1-2 years of experience with children

CPR/First Aid training

TB tests and MMR vaccination compliance
