Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking part-time BASE instructors to guide elementary students through sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on activities after school. You’ll foster teamwork, social-emotional learning, and skill-building in a fun, safe setting at Cascade View and Timber Ridge Elementary.

Hours vary by location; shifts typically 6:45am start to end of school, with aftercare until 6pm. Eligible staff receive YMCA membership, mental health resources, PTO, and program discounts.

Qualifications

• 16 years of age or older, 18 or older is preferred.
• TB tests and MMR vaccination required before employment.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or currently enrolled in education program.
• Completion of minimum STARS required training; CPR/First Aid training recommended.
• Background check and required screenings per YMCA policy.

Responsibilities

• Implements developmentally appropriate activities in line with YMCA Youth Development goals.
• Supervises a group of children to ensure safety and positive experiences.
• May guide staff/volunteers overseeing groups of children.
• Communicates day-to-day information with parents/guardians.
• Follows YMCA policies, including medical, safety and disciplinary procedures.
• Maintains site appearance, decor, and cleanliness; assists with snacks when needed.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; performs other duties as assigned.
