Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is hiring for a Part-Time Onsite BASE Instructor at Syre Elementary. You will guide elementary students through sports, arts, STEM and hands-on learning in a safe, caring environment before and after school.

Duties include promoting teamwork, social emotional learning, and skill development while ensuring fun. Hours are 6:45am start and after-school end times, Monday through Friday, with full-day programming on non-school days.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years’ experience with children; camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
• Ability to model and demonstrate YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
• Experience planning and implementing group activities.
• Pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination required; Concentra options available.
• High school diploma or equivalent or current enrollment in HS or equivalent program.
• Completion of minimum STARS training; CPR/First Aid training.
• Portable Background Check clearance in MERIT; training on onboarding timeline.

Responsibilities

• Implements developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum aligned with Youth Development goals.
• Supervises a group of children to ensure health and safety and a positive experience.
• May guide staff/volunteers overseeing activities.
• Communicates day-to-day information with parents/guardians.
• Follows YMCA policies, including medical, disciplinary, and abuse prevention procedures.
• Maintains site appearance and cleanliness.
• May prepare and serve snacks; cleans snack area.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.
