Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a full-time on-site Lead Instructor for our BASE after-school enrichment program, serving elementary students. You will guide activities across sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning while promoting teamwork and social-emotional growth.

You’ll support a program supervisor and help deliver a safe, stimulating environment. The role runs Monday–Friday with early mornings and late afternoons, across multiple elementary sites.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience with children (camps, childcare, tutoring, nannying).
• Ability to model YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
• Experience planning and leading group activities.
• 12 college credits (100-level or above) and a GED or high school diploma.
• STARS training completed.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• TB tests and MMR vaccination completed; accommodations available if needed.
• Food worker card required.
• Background check through MERIT.
• On hire, earliest training within 30 days; onboarding as required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities.
• Supervises a group of children to ensure health and safety and positive experiences.
• Guides staff/volunteers overseeing activities of groups of children.
• Professionally communicates with parents/guardians daily.
• Follows YMCA policies including medical, disciplinary, abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
• Maintains site appearance, décor and cleanliness.
• Prepares and serves snacks; cleans snack area.
• Assists check-in/out for parents.
• Assumes program operation responsibility when DCYF staff is not on site.
• Provides onsite support for Play Everyday Program at the school.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.
