Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital in Ohio seeks a Behavioral Health Technician I to support the inpatient behavioral health unit, including the ED, for 36 hours per week on day shifts. You will work under RN direction, provide direct care, participate in group activities, and help maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma, BLS certification, and up to 2 years of healthcare experience; enrollment in a relevant field is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; undergrad enrollment preferred.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.
• 0–2 years of healthcare experience is typical for this role.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and assists in care planning and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Provide direct care in collaboration with licensed RNs and other staff.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic activity groups for patients.
• Document in the medical record according to policy.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment and communicate with the team.
• Assist with activities of daily living and environmental safety rounds.
