Akron Children's Hospital in Ohio seeks a Behavioral Health Technician I to support children and adolescents (ages 5-17) in the inpatient behavioral health unit or ED. Under the direction of a registered nurse, you will assist in care and treatment and contribute to the plan of care.

The role involves data collection, direct patient care with RN supervision, facilitating psychoeducational groups, documenting in the medical record, promoting safety, and communicating with the treatment team.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; undergrad counseling/psychology or nursing preferred; associate degree preferred.
• Certification: BLS through the American Heart Association required.
• Experience: 0–2 years' experience; healthcare experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Collect data and contribute to assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of individualized care.
• Provide direct care under RN supervision and assist with clinical interventions.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic activity groups.
• Document in the medical record according to policy.
• Encourage activities of daily living and maintain safety.
• Communicate with the treatment team and charge nurse about patient status.
• Manage crisis situations using positive approaches.
• Possibly apply, monitor and remove patient restraints per protocol.
• Conduct safety rounds and monitor milieu; ensure a calm environment.
