Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician I for the inpatient behavioral health unit. The role involves supporting care for children and adolescents, under RN direction, in a 1st shift schedule with rotating weekends and holidays.

You will collect data, participate in care planning, and assist in providing both physical and clinical interventions alongside licensed staff, while maintaining patient safety and therapeutic environments.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent and progress toward undergraduate degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field; an associate degree is preferred.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.
• 0 to 2 years of experience is typical for this role.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and contributes to assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of individualized care.
• Provide direct care under RN supervision and assist with physical care and clinical intervention.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic activity groups; participate in educational, social and recreational activities.
• Document in the medical record according to policy.
• Encourage and assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and communicate with the treatment team.
