Job summary

Luminis Health, Inc. is hiring an Inpatient Medical Coder to accurately code hospital inpatient accounts for reimbursement, research and compliance. The role requires CCS/CIC/CPC or RHIT/RHIA credentials, ICD-10-CM/PCS knowledge and strong attention to detail.

You will collaborate with clinicians and CDIS, query documentation when needed, and ensure timely, compliant coding across patient types. This on-site role supports hospital coding quality and data integrity.

Qualifications

• CCS, CIC, CPC or RHIT/RHIA credentials required or must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
• Formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training completed; strong knowledge of coding guidelines.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG/APR-DRG methodologies and inpatient reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Analyze inpatient cases and assign ICD-10/PCS codes for reimbursement and compliance.
• Query providers when documentation is unclear; coordinate with CDIS as needed.
• Monitor work queues and code within established timeframes for each patient type.
• Maintain high accuracy to prevent denials and errors; support DRG/MCC/CC reviews.
• Review records to extract data for code assignments and communicate billing issues.
